Brendan Cleaves: Brendan is a UK MVA nominated, award-winning writer and director. He is currently in post-production for his new short film ‘The Dead Collectors’ starring Ivan Kaye (Vikings) and Elliot Langdridge (Northern Soul), and is pre-production of a triller called ‘Sam and Doug’ shooting early 2021.
Brendan's directed his first short film 'ROGER' in 2017, starring John Bradley (Game Of Thrones) and comedian Seann Walsh, it was screened at over thirty five film festivals and has secured distribution with Shorts International. It had its US premiere at the St Louis International Film Festival (Academy Award Qualifying) and UK premiere at Foyle International Film Festival (Academy Award Qualifying, BAFTA & BIFA recognised).
In 2018 the feature film script for 'ROGER' was selected for the Hollywood Black List's Top Comedy Scripts. (www.blcklst.com), It also made the semifinals of the Script pipeline, Scriptapalooza and WeScreenplay competitions, and quarterfinals of the Blue Cat Competition. It was also a semifinalist of the 2018 Austin Film Festivals Screenplay Competition.
In 2019 Brendan was selected for the Directors UK ‘Inspire’ mentor scheme.
During 2019 Brendan wrote and directed a trilogy of short comedy films called ‘Three Shit Dates’, consisting of three films ‘The Wrong Swipe, ‘Coldplay and ‘End Credits’. He is releasing them throughout the year. Also, in 2019, Brendan directed another new short film ‘Living Next Door to Alex’ starring Tom Bell (The Mash Report, Project Greenlight) and Richard Rycroft (Game of Thrones, Apple Tree Yard), the film will be launching on the 2020 film festival circuit.
Brendan was nominated for 'Best Interactive Video' at the 2014 UKMVAs.
In 2016, Brendan won 'Best UK Screenplay' for his script 'Building Bricks' at the London Independent Film Festival.
His short film script 'Sam and Doug' has been officially selected for multiple film festivals around the world, it recently made the quarter-final of the Bluecat Screenplay Competition and was selected for 'Best of the Postroom 2016' by the BFI's Net.Work website.
