Maeve Buckenham
Crow Feathers In this highly creative and experimental work, fast-paced images alternate between the artist’s home and exterior locations such Rye, Hythe and Sissinghurst. Playful and imperfect, surrealistic at heart, the visuals allude to Romanticism and the Pre-Raphaelite, whilst the dark cinematography, interior decor and mood inspire references to the Gothic. The piece fuses layers of haunting musical improvisation and the artist’s own voice to seduce the viewer into a turbulent, albeit hermetic, inner world otherwise inexpressible and inaccessible.
